AlsoAsked is one of the tools for People Also Ask that run the search for you. You type a question, brand or keyword, it collects Google’s People Also Ask questions for that search, and it shows you how they connect. It’s made by Candour. Everything below comes from AlsoAsked’s own site and help centre, read on 27 September 2026.
Google knows it well. When we harvested the PAA box for “people also ask tool”, “What does AlsoAsked do?” was the fourth question, and the answer Google gave cited alsoasked.com. AlsoAsked was also the first organic result for that search.
What AlsoAsked does
Its FAQ puts it plainly: AlsoAsked “aggregates, organises and displays” People Also Ask data from Google’s results. In practice that covers:
- Question trees. Results appear as a graph, so you can see which questions Google spawned from which. AlsoAsked calls this the intent connection between questions, and its FAQ says mapping those connections is what sets it apart.
- Targeting. Country, city and language, in all the languages Google supports.
- Image export. A PNG of the question graph, on free and paid accounts.
- Data export. CSV, XLSX or Google Sheets. The full export (Google’s answer, the ranking URL and page title, each question’s position in the tree, and AI Overview citations where they appear) is a Lite and Pro feature. The help centre says Free and Basic accounts can export the questions themselves.
- Bulk search. Upload a CSV of up to 1,000 queries and get back a zip of results (Pro).
- API and MCP. A sync and async API with webhooks, plus an MCP server that connects AlsoAsked to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Code (both Pro).
How does AlsoAsked work?
You enter a term and choose a country, a location and a language. AlsoAsked then fetches the live People Also Ask results from Google for that setup; a help centre article puts the average wait at 6 seconds. If Google doesn’t show a PAA box for the term, you get no results, and AlsoAsked’s FAQ says that means the tool is working correctly.
How far it digs depends on the search type:
- Standard search: 2 levels deep, about 25 questions on average, 1 credit.
- Deep Search: 3 levels deep, 4 credits, Lite and Pro only. The homepage says it returns on average 150 questions per query; an older help article says about 100.
Every successful search is cached. Opening it again from your history costs nothing, while refreshing it for the latest data costs 1 credit. How long results stay cached depends on the plan.
Two design choices are worth knowing. First, there’s no “national” search. AlsoAsked notes that every Google query carries a location, so it asks you to pick one, down to the city. Second, it doesn’t show search volume for questions. Its help centre argues that a conversational question can be worded too many ways for anyone to measure its volume reliably, and that “intent volume” matters more.
A small example from our own depth pass shows why the tree view helps. Google placed “How does AlsoAsked work?” under “What does AlsoAsked do?”, and under that it offered “How does also asked work?”, the same question with a space in it. Every PAA tool will surface near-duplicates like this. Spotting and merging them is still your job.

AlsoAsked vs a browser extension that reads the live box
Both give you PAA questions. The real difference is where the search happens.
- Where it runs. AlsoAsked searches from its own servers, using the country, city and language you pick. An extension reads the results page in your own browser, so it sees exactly what Google is showing you.
- Scale. AlsoAsked takes up to 1,000 queries in one upload and has an API. Its homepage makes the point itself: bulk searches “wouldn’t be possible with Chrome scraping extensions”. An extension works one results page at a time.
- Freshness. An extension reads the box as it is right now. AlsoAsked is live when you search and cached afterwards, which is handy for history and free re-opens, but refresh before you rely on an old result.
- Cost. AlsoAsked meters credits per search. With an extension, the cost is mostly your time in the browser. PAA Box, for example, takes about 1 to 2 minutes to reach D3 in questions-only mode, or about 12 minutes if it also saves every answer.
PAA Box is our tool, so we’re not neutral here, but the honest answer is that they suit different jobs. For a client deck, hundreds of keywords or data flowing into a script, AlsoAsked is built for it.
