How do you export People Also Ask questions?

Short answer

Google has no export button for People Also Ask. You can copy the questions into a spreadsheet by hand, noting which question each one came from, or use a tool. Browser extensions like PAA Box (ours) and web tools like AlsoAsked export CSV files, and SERP APIs return the questions as JSON.

Exporting turns a Google page into data you can work with, and it’s one of the core jobs in our guide to using People Also Ask. There are three ways to do it: by hand, with an extension or web tool, or through an API. Here’s each, plus what a good export should keep.

Google has no export for People Also Ask

There’s no download or copy-all option in the box. Google doesn’t seem to follow the question either. When we searched “how to export people also ask questions” on 27 September 2026, Google’s own People Also Ask box offered “Can I export my Google search history?” and “How do I share the results of a Google search?”. Neither is about PAA, so both went on our off-topic pile.

Exporting by hand

  1. Search your topic and find the People Also Ask box.
  2. Open a question. Google shows an answer and adds more questions below it.
  3. Copy each new question into a sheet with three columns: depth, question, parent question.
  4. If you want answers, copy the answer text and the source link as well.
  5. Repeat for every question, down to the depth you want.

Fine for a quick look. It gets slow fast. To reach 50 unique questions for “people also ask,” our research harvest had to open about 25 questions (52 confirmed expansions), starting from 4 visible. It’s also easy to lose track of which question spawned which, and that’s the most useful part of the data.

Exporting with a Chrome extension

An extension reads the box on the results page you already have open. PAA Box is our tool, so weigh this section with that in mind. It extracts the questions and expands them up to four levels deep:

DepthWhat it opensQuestions onlyWith answers (Pro)
D0 Lid offThe questions Google already shows~5 sec~30 sec
D1 One layerPlus their children~10 sec~1 min
D2 Two layersPlus grandchildren~30 sec~4 min
D3 All the wayOne more level~1-2 min~12 min

The CSV export keeps the structure. Every row carries the depth, the question and its parent question. In answers mode (part of PAA Box Pro, coming soon), it also saves Google’s answer and the source for each question. Here’s how two rows relate, using an edge from our own research:

International Google domains are opt-in, so it only runs on the country versions of Google you approve. It’s live today in the Chrome Web Store as BlogStorm: People Also Ask Tool (659 users, 5.0 stars from 13 ratings as of 27 September 2026). PAA Box is the same tool, being rebranded.

Exporting with a web tool

Web tools run the search for you. AlsoAsked is one; it was the top regular result for “people also ask tool” in our 27 September harvest. According to its help center (article dated 27 May 2026), you can download results as CSV, XLSX or Google Sheets. Free and Basic accounts export the questions only. Lite and Pro accounts add Google’s answer, the ranking URL and page title, tier positions that show where each question sits in the tree, region, language, and whether the answer was an AI Overview, with its cited URLs. More in what AlsoAsked does, and a wider comparison in our People Also Ask tools guide.

Exporting with a SERP API

If you want PAA questions inside your own scripts, a SERP API returns a Google results page as JSON. We used Serper for the depth pass behind this site. Each response had a list of the questions Google showed up front, and in our runs those entries held the question text without the answer. To go deeper, you search each question again and treat its box as that question’s children. That took us 65 more searches. It approximates clicking; it isn’t the same thing, since a fresh search can show a different box.

Questions only, or with answers?

Pick based on the job. For keyword research and planning, questions only is enough, and it’s fast: in PAA Box, about 5 seconds at D0 and 1 to 2 minutes at D3. Pull answers when you want to know who Google cites, or what its answer currently says, so yours can be clearer. That costs time: the same depths take about 30 seconds and 12 minutes with answers. On a web tool, answers can also depend on your plan, as with AlsoAsked above.

What a good export keeps

  • The parent question. Without it you have a list. With it you have a tree you can turn into pages.
  • The depth. It tells you how far from the original search each question sits.
  • The answer and source, if you’re studying who Google cites. In our harvests, all 149 questions came with an answer and 147 had a source.
  • The search, country and date. PAA changes, so record where and when you pulled it.

Clean it before you use it

Expect drift and near-duplicates. Only 6 of the 50 questions we collected for “people also ask” were actually about People Also Ask. Our research also turned up near-twins like “Where do the people also ask come from?” and “Where do the people also ask questions come from?”. Filter the drift, merge the twins, then map what’s left into pages with our content plan method.
